Hello and welcome to the 4Low Soap Company family! The company was born in 2025 from both a love of the natural world and a need to generate self-driven, independent income. 4Low strives to bring quality, hand-crafted natural soaps and skincare products to those who love the outdoors, the planet and the skin they live in on this crazy, bumpy and very dirty ride we call life.
You’re probably saying “But where’d this crazy name 4Low come from and what the hell does it have to do with anything?” It’s a way of life, my friends… a way of LIVING. My whole life was turned upside down and destroyed by what felt like trauma after trauma for 20 years and I found myself a broken shell of a human being by the end of 2017. It was a Jeep that saved me. A Jeep that has two off-roading gears: 4High and 4Low. 4Low is the gear that you use when you need all the power you can muster to pull yourself over and through any obstacle the trail can throw at you. But it’s a slow speed. A crawl forward. Usually, in 4Low situations, I find myself on a painfully steep, dusty, boulder-covered span of trail with 8 inches of clearance to the driver side, a 1,000 foot drop out the door to the bottom of a mountain gully, no escape route and utterly alone. In those moments, where death awaits if you lose control of the vehicle or yourself for even a moment, I found my peace. I found a level of mindfulness, courage, faith and inner silence that was impossible anywhere else in my life. The nightmares, intrusive thoughts, panic, fears, anger and all the pain went away. The past and it’s demons was replaced by the beauty of that one moment where all that mattered was the here and the now. I found self-confidence, strength, determination, pride, and a promised land of natural beauty that can’t ever be realized by taking the easy roads. There is deep healing in nature. The farther from the real world you go to find it, the more gorgeous and regenerative it is, but the price is as steep as the trails. You must have a reckoning with yourself, face your fears, master your own mind and actively choose to embrace the suck. You cannot find inner peace, salvation and healing with life in 4High. You find redemption in the slow crawl of Life in 4Low.
Life is a dirty business, full of messes at every turn. Life in 4Low can be an even dirtier business indeed, where blood, sweat, tears, gravel, thorns, grease, smoke and mud all try to grind you and your skin down to nothing. I hope and endeavor to develop some natural soaps that cleanse and nourish the skin you wear on this journey and embody the pure goodness and beauty of nature so you can enjoy a few moments a day of Life in 4Low in your own little world.
